The COVID-19 outbreak has wreaked havoc on our nation. While hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost to the virus, millions and millions of other lives have been devastated by the economic impact of sheltering in place and job loss or furlough. Government relief programs, such as the paycheck protection program (PPP) and Economic Impact Disaster Loans (EIDL) have been clunky and inefficient in getting money where it’s needed. 3,300,000 Americans filed for unemployment in one week, and now, over 21,000,000 Americans are unemployed!
I certainly don’t know how to solve all of this, but we can do our part. We at the Beppu Group would like to help in a very tangible way 8 deserving families or individuals who have been hit particularly hard by job loss, cut hours, furlough, or reduced wages. If you or someone you know has struggled to meet their basic needs (like groceries) and would benefit from a $250 gift card to Safeway, please nominate them/yourself below. We’d love to hear your story and—even if in a small way—help get help where it’s needed most.
