Despite its presence in the bustling Bay Area, Los Altos offers a slower, village atmosphere, making it the first choice for those who can afford the price of entry. Only seven square miles, Los Altos borders Palo Alto to the northwest and Mountain View to the east. The city was the original home of Apple, Inc., born in the garage of Steve Jobs’s parent’s home.

Though affluent, Los Altos is a laid-back, family-oriented suburban neighborhood. It’s a place that families will enjoy, with top-rated schools that are easy for families to walk to, a handful of parks, and a nature preserve. Many highly competitive youth athletic leagues are available as well.

Art lovers will enjoy over 25 sculptures throughout the city, which are part of its Public Art Program. Wine enthusiasts can take part in the annual Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival in September. The town also hosts family-oriented events such as a weekly Farmer’s Market, and an annual Easter egg hunt, Holiday Stroll, and tree lighting ceremony.

Churches, libraries, and small businesses fill downtown Los Altos, and the city boasts unique shopping boutiques, cafes, and salons. Los Altos also offers extensive walking and biking trails, where families can recharge.
