The Ohlone Native Americans once populated the lush verdant hills of Sunnyvale. The community has now grown to be a highly sought-after place to live since its incorporation in 1912. Located in Santa Clara County, Sunnyvale serves as the epicenter of technology and innovation, with many Silicon Valley high-tech firms, such as Yahoo, Google, Apple, and LinkedIn, with campuses there. Sunnyvale’s southern half contains several pockets of unique Mid-century modern homes built by renowned real estate developer Joseph Eichler. The community is ideal for families and outdoor lovers, with 476 acres of parks that offer lakes, wetlands, open preserves, and two public golf courses. Prime for bicycling enthusiasts, the League of American Bicyclists listed Sunnyvale as a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community. The Sunnyvale Unified School District is also known for its top-rated public schools. Sunnyvale is one of the few cities to have a Department of Public Safety where its firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical technicians are all cross-trained to respond to emergencies in any single role, making it one of the country’s safest cities in the nation.

 

For those who love outdoor shopping and dining, Murphy Avenue is a beautiful place to stroll with family and pets in warmer weather. A wide variety of cuisine is available, and with its bars and night scene, it’s known as the “domain of the young Silicon Valley hipster.” On Saturday mornings, Murphy Avenue comes alive with the Sunnyvale Farmers Market. The colorful market displays a wide range of fresh vegetables and other take-home goods. Visitors can dine on a variety of homemade and go home with beautiful fresh-cut flowers.
